Brookline School of the Arts

Brookline School of the Arts LLC is a non-competition dance studio, under Owner/Artistic Director Erin J. Washington. The mission of Brookline School of the Arts is to develop artists of the future by focusing on its three pillars of Technique, Artistry, & Creativity. Brookline School of the Arts offers classes in the dance styles of Ballet, Modern/Contemporary, Jazz, and Street Dance/Breaking for dancers ages 3 - 18 years old.

TECHNIQUE

Proper technique is a vital component to being successful as a dancer. With Ms. Erin's background in classical ballet, she stresses the importance of learning, developing, and maintaining proper technique in order to prevent injuries. This same principle can be applied to street dance, and other classical styles of dance. By establishing proper foundational technique, dancers will be able to manipulate and adapt their movement through the progression of their training.

ARTISTRY

Artistry is what defines you as a dancer. Although all dancers learn the same movement and vocabulary, eventually through time a dancer will develop their own style. Artistry, Finesse and Style are key attributes to making a dancer stand out and be interesting. By developing a dancer's artistry, they will be able to take movement and choreography and make it their own. The ability to connect and communicate emotionally while dancing/performing is a signature trait of Ms. Erin's artistry that she strives to pass down to her students.

CREATIVITY

The ability to explore your creativity is the fun part of being a dancer. Using tools such as freestyle and improvisation allows dancers to brainstorm, be innovative, and play with new and fresh ideas to add to their movement vocabulary. At Brookline School of the Arts, creativity is infused in every aspect of the curriculum, from warm-up, to across-the-floor, and choreography.
